Crossmediaspecialist: Open source voor grafici?

    Andere OS applicaties: Cinerella (professionele video montage), Lives (idem), en een van de bekendste OS applicaties is Blender, een OS animatiepakket met Nederlandse roots: Ton Roosendaal. Wordt zelfs gebruikt in Hollywood

    @LucasVroemen dank je voor de die tips. Blender ken ik inderdaad. Mooie tool voor animatie (leuke film Big Buck Bunny!). De andere tips ga ik bekijken. Het is goed om te horen dat organisaties blijven doorgaan met deze groep applicaties. Beheer-toepassingen (ik bedoel dan niet CMS, daar zijn ze al veel verder) gaan ook meer naar OS, zie mijn eedere post: http://www.crossmediaspecialist.nl/2009/05/28/o...

    De enorme afhankelijkheid van technologie, alle nieuwe ontwikkelingen op mediagebied draaien weliswaar om inhoud maar zijn technology-driven, maakt dat de consument in moet kunnen grijpen in die technologie. Het kan toch niet zijn dat in deze stormachtige ontwikkelingen bedrijven worden tegen gehouden omdat de vendor pas aan een ontwikkeling begint als 1000 andere klanten er ook om vragen? Daarom vind ik gebruik van OS en Open Standaarden onontbeerlijk voor een modern mediabedrijf.

    Hi Peter, you are right open source is alive and kicking, maybe not as mainstream as it could be in the media scope, but you only need to look under the bonnet of some of the largest DAM systems to find ImageMagik lurking there performing some of the (what would be considered) clever stuff that the DAM is offering, whether the companies disclose that information to their clients is another thing.

    If the open source community can keep up with the file formats of the big boys, then they have every chance of breaking more gorund, whats more, these applications need more than features to attract people, they should get the commuity to assist with the UI as well to ensure it provide a seemless user experience.
